Nice rest and a bit of research December 5, 2005

I didn't really want it but I got a lot of rest today. No ride due to unbelievably stormy weather and no run either because I didn't feel up to it. Instead, I net surfed for some info and watched 2movies, "Forrest Gump" and "The Italian Job". After that, I watched a TV show which talked about what happens when you're backbone's crooked.

Net surf: I read through a lot of blogs, mainly written by triathletes and roadies and I found an interesting article, "The effect of plyometric training on distance running performance". I wonder if anyone knows about this…am I the guy with the old info?? Just wondered cause I live pretty far away from everyone…hehe. It's about the jumping stuff and I've heard of it before but didn't think it'll do any good for endurance running so I was a little suprised by this article. It'll only take you a minute to read this one.

Forrest Gump: I knew it's a good movie and I watched it a lot of times before. It's the first time watching it since I've been into triathlon training and my first thought was, 'I wish I could run like that…' weird, but that's really the first thought that came to my mind.

The Italian Job: It was my first time watching the whole movie. I only saw it until the part where their van went down into the freezing water and that's it. But today, I was able to watch the whole thing and it was pretty interesting but nope, it's not gonna motivate me to do baaad things;-)

The TV show: This was really interesting, now that I've watched it, I felt that I need to fix my backbone…Scary!!! That's why I hate watching these kinda shows that talk about baaad stuff that happen to your body when something goes wrong. Talking about crooked backbones, I think you'll come up with round shoulders but it's not that…It's kinda hard to explain this but it's the opposite of round shoulders(humpback). You have to look at the person from the front. If one's posture is bad, the backbone will be crooked looking like a long S. They say that your respiratory muscle whatever wouldn't work well and that you wouldn't be able to carry enough oxygen to your brain which leads to the lack of concentration. AND many more BAD things will occur, yikes!!! That'll be pretty critical for a triathlete, wouldn't it?

Tomorrow: Please, somebody, stop the time…Gotta get back in the pool and drown but the best part of it, I don't feel like not going. I'm the kinda guy who just wants to get everything over with. I just might have a 40km ride to the bike store again and see if I'll sign up for the "Challenge 1000km" whatever that the bike store's planning. I hope it doesn't rain…
