Ouch!! December 11, 2005
Posted by clayton in : workout , add a commentToday, I went for a 105km LSD ride EARLY in the morning. Got on the road at 5:30am!!! That's my second time getting out that early. After that, took a nap, ate dinner and stopped by at a CD store.
The ride: I stepped outside and the road was wet plus it was sprinkling, usually, I forget about the ride and just head back home but it felt different today. So, I had my first ride on wet grounds, damn it was slippery. My back tire slipped a total of 4times, well, out of that, I made it slip just to see how things go on the road bike. Although I've only been riding this thing for 7,8months, I'm pretty confident in my technique because I used to always play around with my mtb making it slip and drifting and whatever. When I think back now, I was stupid, there could've been a car hitting me…hehe. And one of the slips scared me a little. The back tire started slipping sideways and I've never had this going on with a road bike, forced it to go back and I was safe. And the ride, it was suppose to be a LSD ride but absolutely didn't feel like one. I felt dead after 30km…hehe. How did I get through the 75km left? Good question, and I have the perfect answer, I don't know. This time, I remembered to push the lap button. For the first half of the ride(53.24km), it took me 2:12'23, average speed was 24.1kph. The second half(52.66km), it took me 2:10'14, average speed was 24.2kph. I felt completely wiped out on the way home but ended up with an even pace, weird…Oh yeah, the "Ouch!!" isn't about me, it's about these 2roadies I saw on my way home. I'm guessing the guy(guy?) in the front wasn't paying attention and he almost went through a red light but noticed and slammed on his brakes, then ofcourse the guy behind him crashed into the front guy and they both fell. Some people went by to help them get up and they looked okay, becareful next time!!! I felt like going by but I thought I might fall trying to get there because they were on the other side of the road, plus, they might not really feel good about falling so…Anyway, it was a good thing that they were okay.
Tomorrow: I'm thinking of another early morning long ride but it's rainy outside:-( See how things work out tomorrow, hope the rain is gone!!!
