Psssss… January 4, 2006

Today, I set the alarm for 4:01am and snoozed for 40min and then finally woke up. Went out the door at 6:15am and the plan was to come back home before 2pm. Here's the real world…

The ride: I went for my longest ride, 160km. The first mistake I made was the usual, "forget to push the lap button." So I ended up going about 12km without noticing it, a good warm up eh? Throughout the ride, my left calf bothered me, I don't know what I did to upset him but he gave me a heck of a ride. 30km and I'm already tired…I went out the door for 150km but then I changed my mind, 100km is enough. 45km, the sun rises and I turn off my lights…the hilly stuff starts. 55km and I finally get to a normal road and got some rest in aero position, this is when I turned on my new little music system which I'll write about tomorrow. I go passed 75km but still can't find my halfway point, Ocean Expo Park. Went pretty far, gave up, headed back and I found a sign that said 31km to Ocean Expo Park….Damn, that's a huge overrun. Besides, I thought Expo Park was 75km from my house but I guess I was wrong. Stopped by at a store, ate some pudding, drank some hot cocoa and back on the road.

1hour later: I hear a noise, "Psssss…" Darn it, a flat tire which I've never fixed before. My first attempt took pretty damn long, 30min?? and my portable air pump wasn't having such a great day either, she didn't push much air in. Ended up heading home with low air pressure and it was tough. I rode the last 50km with that and kinda felt like a turtle…This is when I start to get homesick, hehe. So, what caused the flat? Well this is the answer…

Wow, look at that big staple!!! Should've took it home as a souvenir. But how did this thing get on the road, any idea, construction workers?? A nice old man came over and helped me fix the tire, thanks!!!

Later on: I went to my grandma's house and met some relatives there…Weird, I usually don't talk to my cousins at all but since the day before yesterday, we started talking to each other, hehe, wonder why…

Tomorrow: I'll go to the bike store and learn some skills on how to repair a flat tire, the store owner taught me once but it was 10months ago so I don't really remember the specific stuff. After that, I'll go to the swimming pool and get laughed at by the coach, I know he's gonna ask me if I was swimming throughout the whole interval training last week.
