Barely standing after the "Thursday killer swim" March 3, 2006
Posted by clayton in : workout , add a commentSome of you might think I didn't hop on the trainer again but I finally did. Only for 22min because I was running out of time but I still did. After that, I got ready for the swim in like 2min or so and rushed myself to the swimming pool.
The trainer ride: 3min warm up and it's my first time using a HRM during a workout. I was thinking of a 50min form ride but didn't have the time so just sticked in a little interval. My average heart rate was 153bpm and my max was 183bpm. Here's the question, is that too easy? I've got an HRM now and that's a good thing but I still don't know how to use it. I heard that my my max heartrate is 220-my age, 17=203. And that means I went just about 90%max and 75% average(lower than my test scores…) So, was this workout a hard one or an easy one, I have no clue… Anyway, here's what I did, 3min warm up, 3sets of 1min*3(right foot, left foot, both at 60~80rpm) and 3sets of 2min hard(100rpm+)+1min easy. And I shifted up a gear each time. Then, a short 1min cool down.
Killer swim: Got to the swimming pool at 6pm which is one hour early because the pool's supposed to be closed but the coach opened it for us. Here's what I did…400m warm up, 400m*3 kick with fins(negative, even, hard) with 30sec rest after each 400m. Then, 2000m pull, under 40min which I thought was easy but it was just one step to the kill. After that was 100m*20(2:00), at this point, my shoulders were barely moving…And then the speed training, 25m*6(1:00), cool down 100m. My legs were sort of wiggling when I got out of the pool, hehe. We had to cover the pool with these white sheets afterwards and I was almost dropped in the pool. Now these white sheets, they barely reach each end of the pool so 2people on each side have to bend over and then pull it and I was doing it with one of the girls, tricky… When we were pulling the sheets to the end of the pool, she pulled the sheets toward her place and I was like an inch from falling in the pool. I looked at her and she was smiling….How sweet, hehe. Isn't that cruel though, trying to pull a guy whos legs are wiggling into the pool? Whatever…it was some fun anyway;-) Swam a total of 5850m.
Tomorrow: Another trainer ride but this time I want it to be longer. School ends 30min early just like today but the swim starts 1hour early, wonder if I'll make it. The coach said it'll be a 6000m+ swim tomorrow, it was supposed to be today too but we couldn't hang in there. Wish me luck:-)
