A little miscalculation March 12, 2006
Posted by clayton in : workout , add a commentOther than, I didn't have a run in the afternoon, everything went as planned. 3km warm up run, morning swim, trainer ride and another swim.
3km warm up run: I took the hrm with me:-D I took it pretty easy with the run but my heart rate was pretty high, atleast higher than the trainer rides. hrmax was 183bpm and avg was 162bpm. I wonder why the heart rate rises while running more than biking. I was waiting to see if any of the other fellow swimmers will come(I always run backwards for some reason) running but nope, not even one…That's strange, never happened before. What I felt after the warm up was that the temp is rising and it's just sooo humid outside but that's the fun of summer, sweating, hehe.
Morning swim: 3400m total, made for the faster ones and it was supposed to be 4400m but none of them came so the coach told me to play around with their plan. 200m warm up, 200m*3 fin kick(5:00), 2sets of 400m*1(7:30)+50m*8(1:00) pull with pads, 400m*1(7:30)+100m*4(2:00) swim, 25m*4 sprints and 100m cool down. The coach told me to check my hr after the 400m*1&100m*4 swims… Counted for 10sec and it was 174bpm(400m) and 192bpm(100m). Damn, I never knew my heart beats that much in the pool.
Trainer ride: Another 50min and I didn't change the combination or anything. 5min warm up, 5sets of 1m*3(right, left, both) shift up after 1st&3rd set, 5sets of 2m hard+1m easy shifted up after 1st&3rd set again, 5sets of 30s all out+1m30s easy and then 5min cool down. maxhr was 184bpm and avg was 156bpm. The legs felt way better than yesterday. I was gonna make it a brick with a 10km run but noticed that there wasn't enough time left if I wanted to go for a swim. Had to wash the swim pants, eat and change clothes.
2nd swim: Total of 3300m. 200m warm up, 2sets of my weakest link, kick drills 25m*8(2kick, 4one hand pull&kick, 2swim at 0:40), 100m*3 pull pads(2:00), 25m*40 kick with fins(16-40sec, 24-30sec), 2sets of 200m*1(4:00)+25m*8(0:30)+1min rest+200m*1(5:00), 25m*4 sprints and 100m cool down. Swam with some elementary kids and they were panting, hehe. One of them said, "I feel sick…" and took some rest for a while and another one just couldn't make it in time but there was this one kid who was a real fast kicker and was able to get through most of it, might see him in the olympics after ten years, hehe. Can't believe the coach is making 3rd&4th graders do this stuff, don't understand why the 3rd&4th graders come to do this stuff either.
Tomorrow: Trainer ride, run, clean my room etc…No group ride because most of the triathletes are participating in a half marathon that I'm not. I heard they're gonna ride 85km to the start and ride back after they're done with it. What's the problem with triathletes? Nothing…just another day for them, hehe.
